Nora is thrilled to be part of TRANSaccions: Hysterical Furniture. A weekend of work by Jonathan Burrows and Matteo Fargion at Mercat de les Flors, Barcelona. They feature on 'Evening three' of the programme. See below.
Evening one: Both Sitting Duet is the piece that made their reputation back in 2002, followed in Barcelona by their newest performance Body Not Fit For Purpose, which clashes an angry politics against the empty joy of dancing, raising questions in the midst of our laughter. (One hour no interval.)
Evening two: The second evening features Cheap Lecture and The Cow Piece, where a chanted lecture is overturned by 12 plastic cows who dance, sing, speak, think, sleep, go, come and die in a series of ritual executions. (One hour no interval.)
Evening three: The final evening begins with Eleanor And Flora Music, a collaboration with artists Eleanor Sikorski and Flora Wellesley Wesley, who’ve re-translated Burrows and Fargion’s Both Sitting Duet into a counterpoint of delicate touch. This is followed by Burrows and Fargion performing Speaking Dance, which begins with a choreography that is heard but never seen and unfolds into an anarchic spectacle of rhythmic images. (One hour and a half, including short interval.)
