“Gone the predator, no do-gooders around, everything moves, inextricably bound.” Deborah Hay.
Tue 8 October, 7.30 - 8.30pm
Wed 9 October, 8.30 - 9.30pm
Nora has invited the American choreographer Deborah Hay, who has been making exquisite, radical dances for over 50 years, to make a new work for them to perform.
This is the London premiere of Where Home Is, the piece they have created with Hay.
I am interested in choreography that does not look like anything and is performed by exceptionally astute and experienced dancers. Their behaviour disorienting, comfortingly spare, right in silence. Gone the predator, no do-gooders around, everything moves, inextricably bound. – Deborah Hay, 2018
The evening will also include Playing Audience. The audience is guided through three different frames for watching dance. It is an opportunity to practice seeing movement from alternative perspectives.

Eleanor and Flora perform Digging by Simon Tanguy and present the first screening of Nora Reels.
Nora returns to the Lilian Baylis Studio at Sadler's Wells Theatre with their bold programme of duets by renowned choreographers Jonathan Burrows and Matteo Fargion, Simon Tanguy and Liz Aggiss. Eleanor And Flora Music overflows with free-ranging, rhythmical dancing whilst Digging slips between road trips, plant biology and sexual desire, and BLOODY NORA! concludes with a riot of hormones.
There will be a post show talk with Eleanor and Flora on Thursday 1 June. Free to same day ticket holders.
Nora is thrilled to be part of TRANSaccions: Hysterical Furniture. A weekend of work by Jonathan Burrows and Matteo Fargion at Mercat de les Flors, Barcelona. They feature on 'Evening three' of the programme. See below.
Evening one: Both Sitting Duet is the piece that made their reputation back in 2002, followed in Barcelona by their newest performance Body Not Fit For Purpose, which clashes an angry politics against the empty joy of dancing, raising questions in the midst of our laughter. (One hour no interval.)
Evening two: The second evening features Cheap Lecture and The Cow Piece, where a chanted lecture is overturned by 12 plastic cows who dance, sing, speak, think, sleep, go, come and die in a series of ritual executions. (One hour no interval.)
Evening three: The final evening begins with Eleanor And Flora Music, a collaboration with artists Eleanor Sikorski and Flora Wellesley Wesley, who’ve re-translated Burrows and Fargion’s Both Sitting Duet into a counterpoint of delicate touch. This is followed by Burrows and Fargion performing Speaking Dance, which begins with a choreography that is heard but never seen and unfolds into an anarchic spectacle of rhythmic images. (One hour and a half, including short interval.)

Dancers Eleanor Sikorski and Flora Wellesley Wesley, AKA Nora, offer up an evening of energy and wit as they shift between the contrasting characters and worlds of the three pieces.
